"Today's modern
church meets challenges every day of its existence. The world
is constantly challenging the Kingdom Builders with old, new,
and unique ways in which to snare those whose minds are torn
between a life in turmoil or a life in the saving fold of
Christ. The world is trying to sell a bill of goods through
helplessness, lost hope and faith, believing that there's
no way out-ultimate failure. 
It the objective of the Pastor and members of Greater St.
Luke Baptist Church to be Torchbearers lighting the way for
other to follow as they lead by example. Through its many
ministries, varied ways of reaching those in turmoil are exemplified
through the Word.
The foundation of GSL is The Word, which is taught, preached,
sung, and lived. And for 75 years, God blessed this church
with Torchbearers whose fervent prayers, faith, and determination
paved its way for the church to have the dynamic exposure
it does today.
The Mass Choir has toured throughout the United States. They
have sung for former Vice President Al Gore; has appeared
on the Miss Tennessee Pageant along; and have made numerous
charitable, civic, and community appearances. Some of its
members are recording artists. Some have sung with major gospel
recording artists and have been members of nationally acclaimed
gospel recording choirs.
GSL is also proud to have a strong Torchbearer youth base.
One such Torchbearer, Al
Wilson, is a shining example of how to become successful
and stay focused because of a strong church upbringing. Al
was #27 Linebacker for the NCAA National Football Champion
University of Tennessee. Al was drafted by the former NFL
World Champion Denver Broncos where he is currently #56 Middle
Linebacker. Along with Al, other products of the GSL Youth
department have become doctors, teachers, entrepreneurs, musicians,
and more. And through the GSL Scholarship Fund, it is the
objective of Greater St. Luke to send forth Torchbearer Youth
prepared for the World through their roots in The Word.
